Young Goodman Brown’s Perspective on His Evil Society A society influences person greatly, it shows how a person will act in front of a crowd with a million faces watching them. It is the actions taken in front of people that matter the most ot a society so they can judge you. Hawthorne detested these practices and wrote stories about how it affects people s way of thinking. In Hawthorne’s short story â€Å"Young Goodman Brown†, Mr. Brown takes a walk through the woods that leads him to a secret ceremony where everyone is knows is there. Goodman Brown is forced to participate in their sinful acts and ends up alone in the woods. It was not until he reached town when he realized what has changed. Brown sees the traitorous people for who they really are and he becomes obsessed with sin. Thus, young Goodman Brown’s surroundings in Puritan society influences his perspective greatly when it comes his fellow townsman.
